The Perfect Gifts for the Artist in Your Life

It’s Christmas time again and if you have a friend who is an artist, whether they are into fashion design, Graphic Design, Acrylic Painting or anything pertaining to art, then this is the list for you.

I would be lying if I don’t say that I want most of these for myself and so do a few of my friends. This is what inspired me to make this post. This post is for those of you who has a very special person in their lives, who happens to be an Artist, and has no idea what to get them.

First on our list is a Wacom Intuos Art Graphic Tablet.  It’s perfect for Graphic Designers since most of their work is centred around the computer. With a Graphic Tablet, it makes work easier by replacing the use of a mouse and turns your computer into a digital drawing canvas. Your friend can paint, design and create directly on their computer

If your special person likes to do things old school and likes to sketch their designs out on paper before doing it on the computer then Copic Markers are perfect for them.  It’s also perfect for fashion sketches, garden design and for artists.

This is a weird one but also very accurate. Books are the best gifts for anyone for any time of the year. And for your artist friend the book, Creative Workshop: 80 Challenges to Sharpen Your Design Skills, will be perfect for those you are having a little problem with their creativity.

Of course, the most basic media of being an artist is the use of paints. And watercolour paints are my go too when using paints. The Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Color Pocket is just amazing and it houses 24 different colours. So unless your friend uses a unique way to do their art, like using newspapers or denim, watercolours is a good choice.

Every artist has an artist that inspires them to do better. If you can know your friend’s favourite artist, then you can buy something from that artist for them. The best thing would be if that artist has an art book that contains most of their art pieces and the process they go through in order to create their art, that would be the perfect gift ever.

For example, an artist that inspires me is Loish and she has a book called The Art of Loish: A Look Behind the Scenes. If a friend of mine gave me this book, I would be eternally grateful to that friend.

So there you have it, five wonderful gift ideas for the artist in your life. And if all else fails, there are always Gift Cards!
